Slovakia has strict regulations regarding work permits, so it's essential to verify the authenticity of your permit to avoid fraud and ensure lawful employment. What will be the Slovakia Work Permit Processing Time?

The processing time for work permits in Slovakia is now 30–60 days, which includes the processing of visa applications, Single Permit applications, and labor market testing. Previously, the processing time ranged from 70 to 135 days. Under the updated regulations, foreign nationals are also allowed to begin working while their Single Permit application is being reviewed.

What are the Typical Documents Required For Work Permit?

To obtain a work permit in Slovakia, you must submit the following documents:

  • Visa application form
  • Valid passport
  • Passport-sized photograph
  • Proof of accommodation
  • Employment contract
  • Health insurance coverage
  • Evidence of sufficient financial resources

Additionally, you are required to undergo a medical examination and submit the medical report to the Foreign Police within 30 days of receiving your temporary residence permit card.

What will be the Slovakian Work Permit Duration?

The length of a work permit in Slovakia varies depending on the permit type and employment situation:

  • Single Permit: A single permit to work and reside in Slovakia can be valid for up to two years, with the possibility of renewal.
  • Seasonal Employment: A work permit for seasonal work is valid for up to six months within a calendar year, with a required gap of at least six months between two employment periods.
  • EU Blue Card: The EU Blue Card, issued to highly skilled foreign workers, is valid for four years. It allows the holder to live and work in Slovakia and approximately 25 other EU countries.

Work permits may be extended, provided the employee continues working for the same employer in the same position. A written extension request must be submitted at least 30 days before the permit expires.

  • Possess a valid passport with at least two empty pages
  • Submit a completed and signed application form in Slovak
